They Just Don't Get It

I'm mourning the loss of the Edmonton Oilers in last night's Stanley Cup Final. It frustrates me (and I'm probably not alone here) that the Stanley Cup was awarded to a city that really doesn't appreciate hockey the way Edmonton (hell all of Canada) does.

That being said, despite the loss, I'm sure the attitude in Edmonton is that of 'Thanks Oilers' for restoring some faith in the NHL. Unfortunately, it's still being run by a clueless New Yorker...maybe that will change.

The FCC can stuff it!

I wonder if Canadian Networks are going to stop buying US programs because their getting LAME. (Who are we kidding?)

The US will moving back into the dark ages with the passing of the Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act. This basically gives the FCC powers to fine TV and radio stations for airing content it deems offensive. But what defines that is up in the air. To make matters worse, they have increased the minimum fines tenfold from $32,500 to $325,000. It's basically a Republican ploy to control the airwaves and turn the US broadcast networks into fluffy little bunny-like family TV. It's also a form of legislating HOW someone parents their children.

What ever happened to just turning off the TV when you don't like something and being a F***ING PARENT and actually PAYING ATTENTION to what your kids watch!?!?

Nothing pisses me off more than senseless censorship. This is just the Christian right trying to force their own agenda on the masses. They live in a democracy for Pete's sake! It's about the choice of whether or not you want to watch it and switching it off!

I have the choice to watch Republican Bible Thumpers or I can choose to turn it off. It offends me, so I choose to turn it off. The same goes for those Republican Bible Thumpers! And I say to them: Stop imposing your backward, conservative, medieval beliefs on EVERYONE ELSE!

What scares me is that in Canada, we have a Conservative government now. How long will it be before Stephen Harper and his cronies start imposing their backward, conservative, medieval beliefs on EVERYONE ELSE!

I'm not bitter though ;)
